Completed TL001 Tenor Long Scale Ukulele

MAKAIO Ukulele TL001 is a fingerstyle tenor ukulele that was completed in 2006. This ukulele has a 17" scale, with the fretboard joining the body at the 14th fret, allowing access to slightly higher notes. The Engelmann Spruce soundboard provides clear, bright tones and gives the ukulele excellent sustain. Solid timber bindings were used to ensure the ukulele body is durable to resist knocks and dings. A Tru-Oil varnish was used to finish this ukulele, bringing out the beauty of the Honduras Mahogany body and providing a smooth saturn lustre. The Tru-Oil varnish provides a thin flexible finish that has less impact on the tone of the instrument than many other finish types. High quality Gotoh mini tuners were selected to allow accurate tuning with no string slipage.

As well as the Engelmann Spruce soundboard, TL001 has a Honduras Mahogany body bound with solid Purple Heart timber. The neck of the ukulele is Honduras Mahogany and the fretboard and bridge African Ebony. Mother of Pearl marker dots were inlaid on the fretboard surface.
